How much space does a reformer take in a Sydney apartment?
What you need when it's open
Plan for 240cm x 60cm of floor space, plus about 100cm of clearance on each side so your arms and legs can move without restriction. The PP-07 foldable reformer measures 235cm L x 64cm W x 26-36cm H unfolded, which gives you a solid number to measure against your living room or bedroom.
What you get back when it's folded
Folded, the PP-07 comes down to 122cm L x 64cm W x 50cm H. That is about half the length, so the floor space returns to you once your session is done.
Start with how you'll use it, then pick the reformer that fits your space and your budget.

Whatever you choose, proper form and qualified instruction matter, so we'd always suggest booking a session with an instructor when you're starting out.
Folding, storing and getting on with your day
The PP-06 foldable reformer stands upright when folded, and you don't need to remove any parts or accessories first. That means you can stow it in moments once your session is done.
Folded, it takes up a small footprint, so it can stand against a wall, slide into a wardrobe or sit beside bedroom furniture. The slim, lightweight frame keeps the lounge or bedroom usable the rest of the day.
It's worth learning the folding routine alongside your exercises with a trained instructor.
What to check before you buy a foldable reformer
A good foldable reformer should feel like a studio machine that happens to fold. Here is what we look for in every model we stock, and what we'd suggest you check on any reformer you're comparing.
- A hinge that locks in place. Foldable frames use hinged aluminium or timber, and the hinge should lock firmly while you're using the reformer.
- A rated weight capacity of at least 120kg. Check the figure in the specs rather than assuming.
- No flex or rattle at the fold. Press and rock the frame in the showroom. A robust fold feels solid underneath you.
- A carriage glide as smooth as a non-folding model. The ride should be quiet and even from end to end, like the PP-06.
- Adjustable spring resistance. You want enough range to suit different exercises and different levels of strength.
- Confirmed folded dimensions. Look for the folded size in the product specifications, such as the PP-07's 122cm L x 64cm W x 50cm H, and measure your storage spot against it.
- Good form and instruction. Anyone returning from injury should get clearance from a physiotherapist or doctor first.
Are foldable reformers as good as studio ones?
For home use, yes: a well-built foldable has the same core features as a studio machine, including a smooth carriage and adjustable spring resistance. Where they differ is build and purpose. A studio reformer is fixed, heavier and designed for daily multi-user work in studios, clinics and gyms. A foldable is a lighter home-use frame made for one household.
There is one honest trade-off. The hinge is where wear shows first if you fold the frame often over several years. If you'll seldom fold it, a compact non-foldable model may suit you better.
For many apartment dwellers, a foldable reformer with a genuine warranty is still the right call.

Ways to start without a big upfront commitment
You don't have to pay for a reformer in full on day one. Home reformers run between $1,500 and $5,000, and we offer a few ways to ease into that.
You can rent the PP-07 wooden foldable reformer to see how it fits your routine and your apartment. If you'd rather own, the PP-06 and PP-07 are both available on deposit-only payment plans.
We're happy to talk through which option suits you.
Foldable reformer questions we hear from apartment dwellers
Is a foldable reformer noisy for neighbours?
The PP-06 is built for a smooth, quiet carriage ride, but we can't promise silence in every building. Try one at our Sydney showroom to hear it for yourself.
Where can I store it in an apartment?
Most foldable reformers stand upright and fold to under 60cm x 60cm, so they tuck against a wall, into a wardrobe or beside bedroom furniture. The PP-07 folds to 122cm L x 64cm W x 50cm H.
What weight capacity should I look for?
Look for a rated capacity of at least 120kg. Confirm the figure in the product specifications before you buy, and ask us if it isn't clear.
How often can I fold it?
Daily folding is what these frames are designed for. Over years, the hinge is where wear shows first, so if you'll rarely fold it, a compact non-foldable model may suit you better.
Should I choose the PP-06 or the PP-07?
The PP-06 is a lightweight metal frame that folds vertically with parts attached. The PP-07 is wooden and also comes as a rental. Both are easier to compare in person.
Is it suitable for beginners or after an injury?
Beginners are welcome, but proper form and qualified instruction matter on any reformer. If you're recovering from an injury, check with your physiotherapist or doctor before starting.
