What the jump board adds

A jump board turns a reformer into a cardio and leg-strength station as well as a flexibility and control tool. Clients push against the board while lying on the carriage, which builds cardiovascular endurance, leg strength, coordination and overall body control, as described on our jumpboards collection.

It is also low-impact, so the work happens without the pounding of running or jumping on the floor. That makes it a popular way to add variety to a session.

Why it suits studio programming

For a studio, a jump board gives you another block to programme without buying a separate machine. You can run short cardio intervals between spring-based sequences, or offer jump-focused classes on the same reformer your clients already know.

Start with how you'll actually use it. If cardio and leg work will be part of your classes, choose a reformer where the jump board comes in the box.

Built to match your space and clients

Jump work puts repeated load through the frame, so build quality matters. Motion Pilates reformers use a rail structure for a solid yet smooth carriage ride, with multiple stopper holes to extend or limit range of motion.

We stock Pioneer Pilates and Motion Pilates across home and commercial ranges, and you can grow into chairs, barrels and trapeze tables later. As always, proper form and qualified instruction matter on any equipment, and anyone with an injury should get clearance from a physiotherapist or doctor first.

Reformers where the jump board comes in the box

Three of our reformers include the jump board in the package, so you don't need to hunt down an add-on. The MP-01 Wood Reformer comes with a large sitting box, jump board, padded standing platform, foot strap, and ropes and hand straps.

The MP-03 Commercial Reformer bundle adds padded, grip-textured standing platforms, a slightly higher floor-to-carriage height and a wider frame. It is limited to one bundle deal per customer.

If space is tight, the PP-06 foldable reformer ships with a jump board and sitting box, a 7-position foot bar and legs adjustable from 26cm to 36cm.

Not sure which suits you? Come and try them in our Sydney showroom, where you can lie on the carriage, push off the board and compare frames side by side before you decide.

What to check before you buy

Before you commit to a studio reformer with a jump board, run through these points. They separate a frame that suits daily studio use from one that suits occasional home sessions.

  • Frame rigidity and weight capacity. Studio-grade frames are rigid and non-folding, with a weight capacity of 150kg or more. Foldable home models sit closer to 100-130kg, and the hinge in the rail is where build quality varies most.
  • Carriage stopper holes. Look for several positions along the frame, as on the Motion Pilates range. They let you extend or limit the carriage's range of motion to suit different clients and exercises.
  • Floor-to-carriage height. This affects how easy it is to get on and off. The MP-03 sits slightly higher than the MP-01, and the PP-06 legs adjust from 26cm to 36cm.
  • Footprint. A non-folding studio reformer is roughly 2.5m long, so measure the room, including space to step around it, before you order.
  • What's in the bundle. The MP-01 package includes the jump board, a large sitting box, a padded standing platform, a foot strap, and ropes and hand straps. Check any other reformer lists the same items.
  • Rent, pay over time or buy used. You can rent to test your own sequences, use rent-to-own or a payment plan to spread the cost, or look at used and demo stock and current sales. Terms are listed on each product page.

Why studio-grade frames hold up under heavy use

A studio-grade frame is built for far more use than a home machine ever sees. A home reformer might get three or four sessions a week from one or two people. A studio reformer in a gym, physio clinic or boutique studio can carry ten or more different bodies a day, for years.

That is why the frame is rigid and non-folding. With no hinge in the carriage rail, there is no joint to develop play over time. Commercial warranties exist for the same reason: heavy daily use, with a jump board adding repeated load to every session.

The buying process should match that seriousness. Our team can recommend a model based on your client numbers and room, arrange delivery, and help with installation, so you are not left alone with a heavy box. We are also there for aftercare once the reformer is in use.

Questions we hear about reformers with jump boards

Is the jump board included, or do I buy it separately?

It's included. The MP-01, MP-03 and PP-06 each come with a jump board and sitting box in the package.

Is a jump board safe if I have joint issues?

Jump boards are low-impact, which is why many people with joint concerns use them. If you've had an injury or have a condition, please get clearance from your doctor or physiotherapist first, and work with a qualified instructor on form.

Can I add a jump board to a reformer I already own?

Often, yes. We stock jump board attachments that suit certain reformers. Tell us your make and model and we'll confirm compatibility before you buy.

Can I rent a reformer before buying?

Yes. Renting lets you test a reformer with your own exercise sequences first. You can also try equipment in our Sydney showroom.

How much room do I need?

A non-folding studio reformer is roughly 2.5m long, plus space to step around it. If space is tight, the PP-06 foldable reformer is the option to look at.
