What is a Pilates Cadillac table?

A Cadillac, also called a trapeze table, is a standalone Pilates apparatus: a raised padded bed with a full overhead frame, fitted with springs, bars and straps at different attachment points. It doesn't need a reformer base, so it works as its own piece of equipment.

Most models include a push-through bar, roll-down bar, arm springs, leg springs and a trapeze bar. Unlike a reformer's horizontal springs, a Cadillac uses springs that work vertically and at angles, which is why it suits a different style of session.

It's a considered purchase. The frame reaches roughly 200-210cm, so it suits studios, clinics and teacher training spaces, and serious home users at intermediate to advanced level with enough room. Many studios pair it with a studio reformer rather than choosing one over the other.

Start with how you'll actually use it, then pick the model that fits your space, your experience level and your budget.

That's the approach we take at Pilates Direct. As an Australian owned and operated supplier, we help you match a Cadillac to your room and your use.

What you can do on a Cadillac

A Cadillac table gives you a wide set of exercise series from one standalone frame. Proper form and qualified instruction matter on every one of them, particularly the hanging and inverted work.

  • Push-through bar: for spinal articulation and upper-body work, lying or seated.
  • Roll-down bar: for abdominal and spinal control, usually seated.
  • Arm springs: lighter resistance, used for upper-body and standing work.
  • Leg springs: heavier resistance, used for lower-body exercises and assisted stretching.
  • Hanging trapeze work: overhead exercises that need 220cm or more of clearance.
  • Positions: lying, seated, kneeling, standing and inverted.
  • Clinical settings: physiotherapists and instructors use Cadillacs for spinal decompression, hip rehabilitation, shoulder mobilisation and assisted movement. If you are recovering from an injury, check with your physiotherapist or doctor before using one.

Cadillac tables we stock, and where to try them

We stock three Cadillac tables, and you can see them in person at our Sydney showroom before you buy. It's a short trip from Dural, and our team can talk you through each model while you try it.

The first Cadillac pairs a stainless steel structure with knot-free reforested wood in a satin matte varnish. The Pioneer has a full stainless steel trapeze tower with 16 carabine attachment points. The Motion uses a lighter Canadian Maplewood design with black upholstery, and comes with the trapeze frame and attachments.

Will a Cadillac fit your space?

A standalone Cadillac table needs about 240cm x 80cm of floor space and 220cm or more of overhead clearance for hanging trapeze work. The frame itself reaches roughly 200-210cm, so check your ceiling height against the product dimensions on each product page before you buy. Standard home ceilings can be tight for a full Cadillac. If that sounds like yours, a half trapeze reformer bed is a more practical alternative, and our team can talk you through the trade-offs. Allow enough room to move safely around the table as well as on it.

Cadillac table questions we hear from Dural customers

How is a Cadillac different from a full trapeze reformer?

A Cadillac is a standalone unit with its own raised padded table and overhead frame. A full trapeze reformer builds that frame onto a reformer carriage. Cadillacs suit studios that already own reformers and want dedicated apparatus sessions.

Who is a Cadillac table suited to?

Most Cadillacs end up in professional studios, physiotherapy clinics and teacher training facilities. They suit intermediate to advanced practitioners, and serious home users with enough space can use one too.

Does a Cadillac replace a reformer?

No. It's designed to complement reformer training, and many studios pair the two for a full classical circuit. If your home ceiling is standard height, a half trapeze reformer may be the more practical choice.

How much space and ceiling height do I need?

Allow about 240cm x 80cm of floor space and 220cm or more of overhead clearance. Check your ceiling against the product dimensions before you buy.

I'm recovering from an injury. Can I use a Cadillac?

Please see your physiotherapist or doctor for clearance first. We can talk through the equipment, but we can't advise on whether it's appropriate for your condition.
