What is a Cadillac table?

A Cadillac table, also called a trapeze table, is a standalone apparatus with a raised padded bed and a full overhead frame. Springs, bars and straps attach to that frame, so it works without a reformer base or carriage. That is the main difference from a reformer. A reformer moves you along a sliding carriage against horizontal springs. On a Cadillac the springs run vertically and at angles, so each exercise needs its own resistance setting. It suits intermediate to advanced practitioners, studios, teacher training facilities and serious home users with enough space and ceiling height.

Start with how you'll actually use it. A Cadillac sits alongside reformer work, so it helps to know which sessions you want the table for.

What comes with a full Cadillac

A full Cadillac table typically includes six working parts, all fitted to the one standalone frame. Here is what to expect when you buy from Pilates Direct.

  • Push-through bar: a sprung bar used for seated and lying work, often to support spinal articulation and upper body control.
  • Roll-down bar: a sprung bar that guides roll-down and abdominal sequences from a seated position.
  • Arm springs: lighter resistance, suited to upper body and standing work.
  • Leg springs: heavier resistance, suited to lower body exercises and assisted stretching.
  • Trapeze bar: the hanging bar for overhead work, which needs at least 220cm of clearance.
  • Push-down bar: a sprung bar that provides resistance from above for lying and seated exercises.

The Pioneer has a stainless steel full trapeze tower with 16 carabine attachment points. The second model uses a stainless steel frame with cast steel joints and knot-free reforested timber in a satin matte varnish. The Motion Pilates table is Canadian Maplewood with a lighter finish and black upholstery, and the package includes the trapeze frame and attachments.

When you visit, you can get hands-on with the frames, bars and springs, and our team will give you a tailored recommendation based on your space and how you plan to use the table. If you're coming back from an injury, check with your physiotherapist or doctor first, and remember that good form and qualified instruction matter on any apparatus.

Will a Cadillac table fit in my space?

Most rooms can take one if you have enough floor and ceiling. A standalone Cadillac table needs about 240cm x 80cm of floor space, and the frame stands roughly 200-210cm high. For exercises that use the hanging trapeze bar, you need 220cm of overhead clearance, so measure your ceiling before you order.

If your ceiling is standard height, a half trapeze reformer is often the more practical choice. It mounts to the end of the reformer without the full overhead structure, so it suits many home studios better.

Once you've settled on a table, we handle delivery and installation, and we're here for aftercare. Proper form and qualified instruction matter on any apparatus, so ask your instructor to check the setup suits your body and goals.

Cadillac table questions we often hear

What is the difference between a Cadillac table and a trapeze reformer?

A Cadillac table is a standalone unit with its own padded bed and overhead frame. A full trapeze reformer builds that frame onto a reformer carriage, so you get both in one machine. A trapeze tower attaches to a reformer you already own, and a half trapeze mounts to the reformer end without the full overhead structure.

Can I rent a Cadillac table instead of buying one?

Yes. We offer rent-to-own and payment plan options, so you can spread the cost rather than paying everything upfront. Ask us which options apply to the table you are considering.

Is a Cadillac table suitable for home use?

It can be, if you have the floor space and ceiling height. Cadillac tables suit intermediate to advanced practitioners and complement reformer training rather than replace it, especially with the springs and hanging trapeze work.

Can I use a Cadillac table for rehabilitation after an injury?

Physiotherapy clinics do use Cadillac tables, but we can't advise on recovery. If you are injured or returning from injury, speak to your physiotherapist or doctor for clearance and guidance before using one.

Do you offer commercial fit-out packages?

Yes. We put together commercial packages for studios, clinics and training facilities, and we can include delivery and installation. Studio fit-outs are quoted individually, so we'll talk through your layout and equipment list with you.

What does aftercare cover?

Aftercare means we're still available once your table is installed, for questions about setup and care. If you want to know exactly what is covered for your table, ask us before you buy and we'll confirm it.
