How a Cadillac differs from a reformer
A standalone apparatus, not an add-on
A Cadillac table is a fully independent apparatus: a raised padded table with an overhead frame that carries the springs, bars and straps. It is a different piece of equipment from a reformer bed, and many studios and home users own both. If you are weighing up cadillac pilates against a reformer, the key difference is how the equipment loads the body.
Springs that work vertically and at angles
A reformer's springs pull horizontally along a moving carriage. On a Cadillac, the springs work vertically and at angles from the overhead frame. Because of that, each exercise needs its own resistance calibration, and you set the springs to suit the movement rather than leaving them in one position.
Start with how you'll actually use it, then pick the apparatus that fits your space. A Cadillac rewards a bit of planning around spring settings and ceiling height.
Pilates Direct Team, Pilates Reformer & Equipment Specialists
As with any apparatus, proper form and qualified instruction matter. They matter particularly when you are setting spring resistance for a new exercise, and especially with inverted and hanging work. If you're returning from an injury, get clearance from your physiotherapist or doctor first.
Not the same as a trapeze tower or half trapeze
A trapeze tower attaches to a reformer, and a half trapeze mounts to the end of one. A full Cadillac needs neither. It has its own padded table, overhead frame and a complete array of springs and bars in one unit, as set out on our trapeze and Cadillac collection. If you already own a half trapeze reformer setup, a Cadillac is a separate, more comprehensive addition rather than an upgrade of the same thing.
What's on the frame: bars, springs and attachment points
A Cadillac is a long-term purchase, so it pays to check the build as well as the spec sheet. Here is what to look at when comparing tables, and what we can talk you through in the showroom.
- Push-through bar, roll-down bar and push-down bar: most full models combine all three on the one frame, alongside the trapeze bar for hanging work.
- Arm springs and leg springs: lighter arm springs suit upper body and standing work, while heavier leg springs suit lower body work and assisted stretching.
- Multiple attachment points: springs and straps clip on at varying heights along the overhead frame, so you can set up different exercise series.
- Frame and finish: the stainless steel and cast steel option and the Canadian Maplewood package take different approaches to materials and upholstery.
- Attachments included: check that the trapeze frame and attachments come in the package, as the Motion Pilates table does.
Arm springs and leg springs: how they differ
The main difference is resistance. Arm springs are lighter and suit upper body and standing work, while leg springs are heavier and suit lower body exercises and assisted stretching.
A spring that suits one series may feel wrong for the next, so you'll change springs and attachment heights as you move through a session.
Between them, the two spring types support lying, seated, kneeling, standing and inverted positions, plus hanging trapeze work. That range is what makes a full Cadillac table such a flexible piece for a home or studio.
Two Cadillac options we stock
We stock two Cadillac tables with springs and straps, and the main difference is the build. Both are standalone units, so you can see and try them in our Sydney showroom before you decide.
The Motion Pilates Cadillac Table is a package with the Cadillac table, trapeze frame and trapeze attachments included. It has a Canadian Maplewood design in a lighter finish, paired with black upholstery and attachments.

The Pilates Cadillac in our second range has a stainless steel structure with cast steel joints for strength and accuracy. Its reforested, knot-free wood carries a satin matte varnish that resists moisture and scratches.

Will a Cadillac fit in my space?
Many home or studio rooms can take a standalone Cadillac, provided you have the right floor area and ceiling height. Plan for roughly 240cm x 80cm of floor space, plus a little extra around the table so you can move and position yourself comfortably.
Height matters just as much. The frame stands about 200-210cm tall, and you need at least 220cm of overhead clearance for hanging trapeze exercises. Please confirm your ceiling height before ordering.
