What Ceiling Height Do You Need for a Cadillac
Plan for at least 220cm of overhead clearance. The frame itself stands about 200cm to 210cm tall, and the hanging exercises need room above it. Send us your ceiling measurement and we'll confirm the right fit for your home or studio.

Why the overhead frame sets your minimum height
The frame is part of the unit
A Cadillac needs 220cm of overhead clearance because the trapeze frame is built into the unit. The frame typically reaches around 200cm to 210cm, so it adds to the height your room must accommodate, not just the table itself.
The Motion Pilates Cadillac Table is a good example. It is supplied as a Cadillac Table plus Trapeze Frame and Trapeze Attachments, so the overhead structure arrives as part of the one package.

Why hanging work needs the extra room
The 220cm figure comes from the hanging trapeze bar exercises. Those movements take the user above the table, so frame height alone is not enough. You also need space to move above and around it.
Measure the room first, then choose the model. A frame that looks fine in a photo can feel very different once it's standing under your actual ceiling.

Check exact dimensions against your room
Frame heights vary between products, so always compare the listed dimensions with your own floor-to-ceiling measurement. The footprint is about 240cm x 80cm, which is worth confirming at the same time.
As with any equipment like this, proper form and qualified instruction matter, particularly for hanging work. Anyone returning from an injury should get clearance from a physiotherapist or doctor first.
How to check your room before you buy
Ceiling height is only one number. Before you commit to a Cadillac, run through the rest of the room as well.
- Ceiling fixtures and fans. Check for fans, light fittings or sprinkler heads above the spot where the frame will stand, as these can reduce your usable overhead clearance.
- Sloping or raked ceilings. Measure at the exact position of the unit, because the clearance may change a few centimetres in either direction.
- Floor footprint. Allow about 240cm x 80cm for the table itself, plus enough room to move around it and step on and off safely.
- Delivery access. Measure doorways, hallways, corners and stairwells so the frame and table can physically reach the room.
- Floor and wall conditions. Confirm the floor is solid and level, and check the listed dimensions on the Motion Pilates Cadillac Table page against your measurements.
- Residential and converted commercial spaces. Take extra care here, as ceilings, services and layouts are often less predictable.
Ceiling under 220cm? Consider a half trapeze instead
If your ceiling sits below 220cm, a half trapeze is the practical alternative. A half trapeze tower reaches roughly 160cm to 180cm, and because hanging exercises aren't performed on it, the 220cm rule doesn't apply.
A half trapeze reformer needs about 250cm x 70cm of floor space, similar to a standard studio reformer, so it suits many home studios. If you have the height but not the floor space, a wall-mounted trapeze tower is worth a look, and a compact pilates reformer is another option. A freestanding tower on a reformer adds no floor space but does add height.
Cadillacs suit serious home practitioners with the room, plus professional studios and clinics.
